Rabun Co. Wildcats host Stephens Co. this Friday Night

It’s game 2 of the season Friday night, August 26, 2022, for the Rabun County Wildcats, as they host Stephens County in a non-region game.  Both teams enter the game with 1-0 records.  Rabun County beat Haralson County 49-3 and Stephens County defeated Habersham Central 14-3.  Rabun County High School Varsity Football Head Coach Mike Davis says Stephens County will be a tough opponent.  “I went and watched their scrimmage and I think they are an unbelievable football team.  They have all the pieces.  They’ve got speed and size.  They’ve got a really good quarterback and a really dynamic playmaker.  They have all the pieces of being one of the best football teams in the state.  I’ve been telling our kids all week that Stephens County didn’t want to play the last few years and all of a sudden now that this senior class last year graduated, they want to play you.  That has been, kind of my motivation for our kids, that they don’t think you are very good.  That’s understandable, a lot of people think that we graduated some really good players but that has been our motivation.  They’re a AAA school and we are just an A and they have three times the number of students we do but we are going to coach them up and put our pants on just like they put theirs on and we will go to it on Friday.”  Coach Davis is excited about the Wildcat’s home opener.  “It’s just exciting, you get to come home and get our first home game.  It’s going to be a big crowd.  It is the way high school football should be, two close communities coming out and supporting their teams and having a big crowd.  I wish there was more of that.  I wish we weren’t driving all the way across the state to Haralson County and Heard County, but it is what it is and you have to play who will play you.  I’m excited and I’m excited for our kids and just a chance to get back and play here in front of the Wildcat Nation.”  The Rabun County High School varsity football game kicks off at 7:30pm in Frank Snyder Memorial Stadium.  If you can’t make it to the game and don’t want to miss a touchdown or tackle of the Wildcats, listen to all the exciting action on Sky 96.3.
