Two Rabun Gap Classes win Video Competition

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School reports that two of its fourth and fifth-grade classes won first place in New York University’s Rock That Movie Chines Video Competition.  Students earned first place overall for elementary schools (fourth-grade class) and first place for linguistic accuracy (fifth-grade class).  More than 40 videos were submitted to the competition from 25 schools across the country.  The students received their awards from NYU this week.  Led by Lower School Mandarin Teacher Ms. Jiahui Tian, Rabun Gap students produced the contest videos in Mandarin as a part of an applied learning project in the first trimester.  The students worked with Director of Digital Arts Mr. Selassie Alleyne to film and edit their original videos.  Students awarded from fourth grade were Eli, Wylie, Hudson, Harrison, Alice, Van, Crosby, Bridgit, Issac, Lizzy, Phoenix, Wyatt, Kinley, Beth, Cece, and Annie. Fifth-graders in the winning class were Aaron, Aniston, Finn, Beatrice, Sawyer, Sam, Nicky, Talon, Peyton, Elliot, Charlotte, Sylvia, and Aria.
