Two people in Habersham County have been charged with murder.

Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell says that his office responded to a call for a missing person, 62-year-old Michael Larry Hill of Cornelia, on Wednesday, and was unable to contact him.

Terrell says that later on Wednesday, the 911 center received a call giving information about the whereabouts of Hill’s body. Deputies and investigators from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, responded to 213 Ayers Road in Mt. Airy, where the remains of a body were recovered and transferred to the GBI’s Crime Lab for identification.

Terrell says that two suspects, 35-year-old Albert Buford Brown of Mt. Airy and 50-year-old William Douglas Downer of Clarkesville are both charged with murder and burglary, and are being held in the Habersham County Detention Center without bond.
