Two Felony Thefts under Investigation
Two felony thefts by taking are under investigation by the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office. On April 16, a deputy spoke with a Clayton man about a stolen gun. He stated that he has a house that he rents on Smoky Ridge Lane. The last time he was there, he noticed that a Glock 43 and a box of 9mm ammo were missing. The deputy entered the gun as stolen into the Georgia Crime Information Center database. The gun and ammo are valued at $580. On April 26, a deputy was dispatched to an address on Race Path Lane in Clayton in reference to a stolen vehicle. A man told the deputy that his 1987 Chevrolet V10 with a camper bed was taken from an address on Persimmon Creek Road. In addition, a portable saw mill was taken from the address. The vehicle and saw mill were entered as stolen into the Georgia Crime Information Center database. They are valued at $6,500.
