Traffic Stop leads to Meth Bust

A Whittier, North Carolina man stands charged with possession of a schedule I controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after a recent traffic stop in Clayton.  On April 13, a deputy of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a 2009 Honda Accord for failure to maintain lane on Georgia 15 at its intersection with Webb Road in Clayton.  During the stop, a search of the vehicle was conducted and a bag of suspected methamphetamine was discovered.  The driver, 45-year-old Robert Hillard Howell, was arrested and transported to the Rabun County Detention Center for booking.
