Traffic Stop leads to Drug Bust in Lakemont

On Jan. 6, a deputy of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a 2006 Pontiac G6 on Georgia 15 at East Wolf Creek Road.  During the stop, a search of the vehicle was conducted and three individual bags of a clear crystal substance suspected of being methamphetamine were found.  The deputy arrested 37-year-old Jessica Dawn McMahan-Stottlemyer of Franklin, North Carolina for trafficking in illegal drugs and possession and use of drug-related objects; and 56-year-old Teresa Gaye Morgan Ledford of Franklin, North Carolina for trafficking in illegal drugs, possession and use of drug-related objects, failure to maintain lane, and a windshield violation.  Both suspects were booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the charges.
