Time to vaccinate for Back-to-School

District 2 Public Health reminds all parents that now is a good time to get those required school vaccinations.  Dave Palmer, Public Information Officer for District 2 Public Health, says these vaccines are necessary for children to return to school.  “We want to have an emphasis on everybody getting their children up-to-date and get all their immunizations for back-to-school.  So, we are having three different weeks with different health departments offering the shots.  During the weeks at all the health departments on Mondays and Thursdays, immunizations will be available from 10am to 7pm and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 8am to 5pm.  With the challenges and uncertainty of COVID-19, we just want to remind parents that we still need to keep our children up-to-date on their vaccines even though we’re unsure about school for the fall, but it is still a time to get your children vaccinated against diseases that we know we have vaccines for and to protect our children.”  To help ensure all children get their vaccines, District 2 Health Departments will hold special clinics for school immunizations in Rabun County during the week of July 20-24.  Vaccinations are by appointment only to help protect the public’s health. Please observe social distancing and wear a mask when coming for your appointment.
