Tiger resident narrowly escapes house fire

Rabun County Fire Services responded to yet another structure fire in Tiger just before midnight on Monday where the occupant of the home had become trapped.

Station’s 12, 1, and 4 were dispatched to 47 Thomas Street at approximately 11:54 p.m. after dispatch notified them that the subject was able to escape from the home that had gone up in flames.

The first units on scene worked quickly to bring the three-story home under control while the occupant who had escaped received medical attention from EMS personnel.

Nearly three hours after the initial units responded, the fire was successfully extinguished. The last units left the scene at around 3 a.m. The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and under investigation.

Although this is the second residential house fire to take place within the last week, Assistant Fire Chief Justin Upchurch assured that the two incidents share no correlation.
