Three Transportation Projects awarded in November  

Three transportation projects were awarded to the Northeast region in November that totaled approximately $4.8 million.  The milling, resurfacing, and shoulder rehabilitation of State Route 9 was the largest project awarded in November. The project represents a $2.4 million investment in Lumpkin County and was awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. The estimated completion date for this project is November 2020. Crews will resurface 9.8 miles of State Route 9 from south of State Route 60 Business to State Route 11.  The milling, resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation of State Route 98 was the second largest project awarded in November. The project represents a $1.5 million investment in Banks County and was awarded to E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. The estimated completion date for this project is November 2020. Crews will resurface 5.8 miles of State Route 98 from south of State Route 164 to State Route 52. The third project awarded involves the construction of a new bridge and approaches on Fork Creek Road (County Road 313) over Deep Creek.  The project represents a $900,000 investment in Elbert County and was awarded to Talley Construction Company, Inc. The estimated completion date for this project is November 2020. The new bridge will be built along the existing alignment of the current structure. Therefore, the project will temporarily close both Fork Creek Road and Hughes Road.
