Three Single-Vehicle Wrecks in Rabun Co.
Deputies with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office recently responded to three single-vehicle wrecks in the county. The first happened on Andrea Lane in Lakemont at 10:43am on Jan. 17. The driver of a 2010 Jeep Liberty was driving on a gravel road when the vehicle drifted onto the shoulder then came back across the road, struck an embankment, then a tree causing the vehicle to turn on its passenger side. The driver was transported by Rabun County EMS to Mountain Lake Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the single-vehicle accident. The second wreck occurred on Lake Rabun Road at 5am on Jan. 18. The driver of a 2015 Volvo told the deputy that she fell asleep while driving and the vehicle left the roadway and struck a building. No one was injured in the accident. The third wreck happened on Watkins Field Road at 9am on Jan. 18. The driver of a 2016 Jeep Renegade said that she looked down to check the weather, ran off the roadway, and struck a Georgia Power pole. The driver was transported by Rabun County EMS to Habersham Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.
