Things to know for Rabun County voters in the Georgia General Election 2018

Early voting ended Friday with a record turnout according to Rabun County Elections Supervisor Tammy Whitmire. Now, Georgians are preparing across the state to head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 6 to cast their final votes in the Georgia General Election.

Before Rabunians take to the voting grounds though, Whitmire said there are a few important key factors that she wants everyone to keep in mind.

“Early voting is completely done,” she said. “We had 5,713 people cast thier votes early. Also, to request absabtee ballots, you can no longer do that. It all came to and Friday.”

Whitmire added that the polls will be open tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. where people can cast their votes at the Rabun County Civic Center.

“Polls open Nov. 6 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and remember that it is located upstairs at the civic center,” she said.

As far as what local races people will have a chance to vote on Whitmire informed on exactly what those are.

“People will have the opportunity to vote on a county commissioners race post 5,” Whitmire said. “Also, if you are in Sky Valley, you have two options on Tuesday, you can either vote at the civic center or you can vote in Sky Valley.”

Whitmire said she hopes to have the unofficial election results by 9 p.m. Tuesday night.

“We are hoping we will be finished with all elections results by 9 p.m,” she said. “We do have over 800 absentee ballots so it might take a little longer but we are hoping to be done by 9 p.m.”

For anyone who is planning on voting in the Georgia General Election, Whitmire advised voters to go to 201 W Savannah St in Clayton where the Civic Center is located.
