TFS Varsity Swim recognizes Seniors as Wilkinson qualifies for State

Tallulah Falls School (TFS) Athletics reports the TFS Varsity Swim teams saw great success at their final regular-season meet of the 2020-21 season. The boys varsity team placed 2nd out of 6 teams while the girls placed 1st out of 7 teams.  Seven TFS swimmers were recognized on Saturday during the Senior recognition ceremony. These swimmers included Abby Walker, Damjan Veljkovic, Sydney Murdock, Halle Weyrich, Seagan McKibben, Camden Hughes, and Logan Huling.  Many individuals saw time improvements worthy of personal records this past weekend. These swimmers included Tillie Crumley (200 Free, 100 Free), Hannah Hickox (500 Free), Emma Jackson (100 Free, 50 Free), Morgan Mullins (50 Free, 100 Breast), Emily Smith (200 IM, 100 Free), Daya Ssemakula (100 Back), Karis Tatum (50 Free, 100 Free, 200 IM, 100 Fly), Abby Walker (100 Free, 200 Free), Halle Weyrich (200 Free), Emily Wolfe (50 Free, 100 Free), Dan Griswold (100 Back, 50 Free), Carter Miller (200 Free), Logan Huling (50 Free), Henry Rickman (200 Free, 100 Free), Emery Sims (50 Free, 100 Back), and  Nelson Wilkinson (200 IM, 100 Back).  Several swimmers raced to top-3 finishes in their individual events, including Hannah Hickox, who placed 1st in the 500-yard freestyle, Emma Jackson, who placed 3rd in the 100-yard breaststroke, Tamia Moss, who placed 3rd in the 100-yard backstroke, Daya Ssemakula, who placed 1st in the 100-yard backstroke, Karis Tatum, who placed 1st in the 200-yard IM and 3rd in the 100-yard butterfly, Halle Weyrich, who placed 1st in the 200-yard freestyle, Emily Wolfe, who placed 3rd in the 100-yard freestyle, Logan Huling, who placed 2nd in the 500-yard freestyle, Henry Rickman, who placed 2nd in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, and Nelson Wilkinson, who placed 1st in both the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard backstroke.  The varsity team also saw several relay teams finish in the top-3 spots in their respective events. The relay team of Dan Griswold, Henry Rickman, Logan Huling, and Nelson Wilkinson placed 1st in the 200-yard medley relay and 3rd in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The relay team of Emma Jackson, Hannah Hickox, Emily Smith, and Layne Kafsky placed 2nd in the 200-yard medley relay. The relay team of Karis Tatum, Tamia Moss, Halle Weyrich, and Daya Ssemakula placed 1st in the 400-yard freestyle relay and 2nd in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The relay team of Emily Wolfe, Kate Trotter, Brooke Hayes, and Abby Walker placed 3rd in the 400-yard freestyle relay.  Nelson Wilkinson qualified for the GHSA state championship in two more events this past weekend as well. Nelson met the qualifying time for both the 200-yard Individual Medley and the 100-yard backstroke on Saturday, rounding out 5 total events qualified for Nelson.  “We are so proud of our swimmers and their accomplishments this season,” says coach Rachel Nichols. “We wish all the best for our seniors and their future endeavors.”  Photo by Crump Photo showing TFS High School Swim Team.
