TFS Boys Third and Girls Fifth at Region Championships

Tallulah Falls School (TFS) competed in Day Two of the Region 8-A DI Championships on Wednesday, reports TFS Athletics. After seeing a pair of athletes claim individual region titles and several earning state sectional bids on Tuesday, the team set out for more history in the final day of the meet.  The Lady Indians ended Tuesday in 3rd-place among six teams, with the Indians in 5th-place out of six squads. Sam Ketch’s discus throw was about a 10-foot PR, and Ade Akisanya’s shot put was also a personal-best. The boys 4×200 Relay broke a school record with a 1:32.76, as Nana Amankwah, Blair Moore, Nnamdi Ezunu, and Tyler Brown teamed up to make history. They bested their own previous record set last season (same quartet).  On Wednesday, Julianne Shirley notched an individual region title with the top spot in the 400, and Molly Mitchell was right behind as the Runner-Up. The girls 4×400 Relay also took first place as region champs, and did so with a multi-second PR. Several others got PRs, including Sofia Rueda and Dani Prince in the 300 MH, the latter getting a PR by .01. Tyler Brown got a PR in 300 MH, and Zakhar Valasiuk got a PR and qualified for state in the 400.  The following have placed in the top-4 of their respective events.
