Ted Ramey Found Guilty of Armed Robbery

Ted Wesley Ramey is declared guilty of armed robbery and other charges.

The trial, which began on Monday, wrapped up when the jury reached a decision just after lunch Wednesday.

Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Brian Rickman comments on the guilty verdict.

“Certainly, we feel it is warranted by the evidence, and appropriate based on what the evidence shows and what the charges are.”

Ramey was convicted on the charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, theft by taking, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and criminal damage to property in the second degree.

His sentencing will take place at a later date.

Rickman explains what the possibilities are for Ramey’s sentence.

“The most serious charge of armed robbery carries no less than ten and no more than 30 years or up to a life sentence,” said Rickman. “The others carry varying degrees of time in prison.”

He was accused of stealing a truck at gunpoint in Lakemont in August of 2011.
