Tallulah Falls Council approves COVID-19 Funding

The Town of Tallulah Falls must spend $2,685 in COVID-19 relief funds by September 1, 2020, to qualify for more federal funding.  At their monthly meeting Thursday night, the Tallulah Falls Town Council heard from Town Clerk Linda Lapeyrouse about the funds available to the Town to stop the spread of the virus.  “Phase 1 is 30% of the total amount.  Our Phase 1 amount between Habersham and Rabun is $8,952.  We do have to use 30% of that by September 1, 30% of that $2,685 is the advance amount, and we have to submit documentation by September 1, on that 30%.  So, it has to be directly related to COVID-19 response basically so all the PPE, hand sanitizers, stuff for the police and fire departments, stuff we’ve had to do for court, and technology.  There are some things that we can spend on technology for trying to get our meetings online, virtually.  So there is a good bit and they are putting out a lot more information about it, every day there are a lot of emails about it.  So, once we get signed up then we can access some of that information and those guidelines.”  The Tallulah Falls Town Council unanimously approved signing resolutions agreeing to the terms and conditions of the federal COVID-19 relief funding.  So far, the Town has spent $650 on supplies to mitigate the spread of the virus.
