Tallulah Council names new police chief

After nearly a two month long search, the Town of Tallulah Falls now has a new police chief.

Tonya Elrod was appointed to serve as Tallulah Fall’s new police chief following the council’s decision Tuesday night. The hiring process has been in the works for months, but following an executive session, the Tallulah Falls Council made the public announcement.

Elrod will be replacing former police chief Bill Goacher who retired before the close of the year.

Elrod is a former Habersham County Sheriff’s Deputy with nearly two decades of experience in law enforcement who has earned degrees from Gainesville College and North Georgia College and State University.

According to town officials, Elrod’s start date is effective immediately.
