Tag Light Turns to Meth Bust

A routine traffic stop for a tag light turns into a large drug bust for the Clayton Police Department over the weekend.Police Chief Lindsey Owens gave details…

“Lt. Jeremy Welch was on routine patrol, and he observed a green Chevy Cavalier, headed northbound on Ga. 15. Upon his stop of the vehicle, Lt. Welch observed two subjects in the vehicle.”

Both men in the car, Jesse Brown and Christopher Penley, were from Tennessee…

“While doing a search of the vehicle, Lt. Welch confiscated 73 grams of methamphetamine out of the vehicle, and arrest was made of the two subjects.”

Two firearms were also located in the vehicle. Penley and Brown will both face drug trafficking and firearm charges.
