State Senator Makes Visit to Local Pre-K

A Rabun County School receives a visit from the 50th District’s State Senator.

John Wilkinson, the Senator who represents the 50th District which includes Rabun County, stop by South Rabun Elementary School today in order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Georgia’s Pre-K program.

Wlkinson made visits to two Pre-K classrooms, taking time to read to the kids, and he says it was a great visit.

“I’ll tell you, the students were really enthusiastic, this Pre-K group, and I can tell a lot of good instruction is going on,” said Wilkinson. “I guess our challenge is just to keep them that enthusiastic as they move along.”

The Principal at South Rabun Elementary School Lisa Patterson said it was great to have Wilkinson stop in for a visit during Gerogia’s Pre-K week.

“We’re wanting to get the word out that it is a special week for Pre-K,” said Patterson. “We’re going to be celebrating within the school.”

This week is the State of Georgia 2nd official year of Pre-K week.
