Special called meeting to discuss allocation of tax money

RABUN COUNTY — A special called meeting of the Rabun County Board of Commissioners has been announced requesting all countywide governing authorities be in attendance.

Officials from Clayton City Hall told WRBN the purpose of this meeting is to discuss the allocation of tax money in Rabun County for the various municipalities.

An email from the commissioners was sent to all the mayors on Friday, Jan. 12 titled “SPLOST Meeting of Mayors and governing authorities.”

The email asked each ruling official to attend the meeting which will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. in the Rabun County Courtroom in Clayton.

The meeting is said to review possible projects for inclusion in a referendum to impose a Special County One Percent Sales and Use Tax (SPLOST) including municipally owned or operated projects, and the proposed creation of an intergovernmental agreement regarding distribution of funds and for all other purposes contemplated.
