Six Killed on Georgia Roads Over New Years

The New Year’s Day Holiday Travel Period Concluded last night, and fewer deaths are reported on Georgia roads this year compared to last.

The Georgia State Patrol Reports that during the travel period which began Friday and continued through midnight Tuesday, six fatalities were reported on Georgia roads. That is less than last year’s total of 13 fatal crashes.

The GSP investigated nearly 600 crashes with just over 250 injuries during the travel period.

Law enforcement across the state also sought to crack down on drunk drivers, and the GSP reports over 300 DUI arrests over the New Year’s Holiday.

The Clayton Police Department is reporting a safe New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, with one DUI arrest in the early morning hours of the first day of 2013.
