Shopliftings reported at Rabun County Walmart

Three shopliftings from Walmart are under investigation by the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office.  The first took place between 4-5:30pm on July 24, when 40-year-old Chris Read of Clayton allegedly took four Cooper Evolution tires valued at $281.  He stands charged with misdemeanor theft by deception. The second occurred between the hours of 3-4pm on July 28, when 61-year-old Earnest Brevard Badger of Athens allegedly stole $554 in electronics, $125 in groceries, and $63 in clothing for a total of $742.  He was charged with felony theft by shoplifting. The third shoplifting incident happened between 6-7pm on July 30, when an unknown individual nabbed $1,414 worth of electronics. All three shopliftings are under active investigation by the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office.  All individuals charged are presumed innocent until found guilty by a jury of their peers.
