Sheriff named Officer of the Year by Clayton Rotary

The Clayton Rotary Club recently presented a plaque to Rabun County Sheriff Chad Nichols as the 2019 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.  Sheriff Nichols accepted the honor on behalf of all the men and women in his department. “It was the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for 2019.  The plaque says for outstanding service to Rabun County. I was honored to get it and I had no idea that I was receiving it. It was just an honor to be recognized for the hard work that is done here.  I can’t take all the credit. I think I told them I was accepting this award on behalf of all the men and women that work for me because I don’t feel like I could be recognized if it wasn’t for every person here working and doing the job they do day in and day out.  So, it was an honor and I appreciate it. I just love serving the community where I grew up and I hope to be able to serve as sheriff for many years here.” There are 56 employees working in the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office including those who work at the detention center, courts, school resource officers, patrol, and office staff.
