Sex Offender Arrested After Alleged Assault

Ronald Anthony MillerA 45-year-old convicted sex offender has been arrested after reportedly assaulting a female and breaking into Macon County two homes.

According to Macon County Sheriff Robbie Holland, the incidents occurred in the early hours of July 25 when Ronald Anthony Miller, of Houston Gap Road, allegedly attempted to strangle an adult female who had given him a ride home. The victim was able to remove Miller from the vehicle, with the help of another person.

Holland says that’s when the suspect went to another part of the county and intruded into two homes in the area of West Old Murphy Road.

The suspect is a registered sex offender in Macon County who recently moved to the Franklin area after being released from a Florida prison for sex crimes against a child.

Miller was booked on a $100,000 bond and his charges include assault by strangulation, attempted armed robbery, 1st degree burglary, and breaking and entering.

The incident remains under investigation.
