Security Grant Proclamation approved for Rabun County Schools

Schools in Rabun County are beefing up security thanks to a new grant.  The Rabun County Board of Education recently approved a Security Grant Proclamation, explains Superintendent Dr. April Childers.  “The Security Grant and since the Board approved that proclamation it has been approved at the state level and so the funding for it is additional to our normal funding.  This will allow us to have camera systems on our school buses, provide additional funds to keep the security of our buildings as secure as they can be, and improve our communication processes that we need in case of an emergency.”  Dr. Childers tells how much money local schools will receive from the state through the Security Grant. “It was $30,000 per school is what the Governor made available, so for Rabun County that is $120,000 this year.” The Security Grant Proclamation for Rabun County Schools was unanimously passed by the Board of Education.
