SDS reaches a resolution

According to a civil action suit filed in Rabun County Superior Court on January 28, Judge Albert B. Collier has lifted the sanctions imposed by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) on the local governments and governmental entities located wholly or partially in Rabun County regarding the Service Delivery Strategy (SDS).

The issues of local SDS, local revenue collection and distribution, and intergovernmental coordination are crucial to municipalities within Rabun County, and all of them have been without since the strife began nearly three years ago in 2015.

Since the sanctions have been lifted according to the court order, the DCA will now be able to grant eligibility to all local municipalities to receive any state permits or financial assistance.

On page two of the court order, Judge Collier outlined the reason for the sanction(s) to be held in abeyance by stating, “WHEREAS, the continued imposition of such sanctions will have a detrimental effect on the Citizens of Rabun County.”
