College Football
College football’s bowl season resumes Wednesday when Western Kentucky takes on Central Michigan in the Little Caesars Bowl at Ford Field in Detroit. The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers are playing in their first bowl game ever, while the Chippewas are appearing in their fifth bowl game in the last seven seasons.
Braves
Jail records show that former Atlanta Braves star center fielder Andruw Jones was free on bond after being arrested in suburban Atlanta early Tuesday on a battery charge, according to the AJC. Gwinnett County Detention Center records say Jones was booked into the jail around 3:45 a.m. and was released on $2,400 bond by 11 a.m.
Braves minor league pitcher Billy Bullock was suspended 50 games for a second violation of baseball’s drug prevention and treatment program for a “drug of abuse.” The suspension was announced Friday by the commissioner’s office. No specific drug was cited. Bullock, who is on the Triple-A Gwinnett roster, will serve his suspension without pay at the beginning of the 2013 season.
