College Football

BYU won over San Diego State in the Poinsettia Bowl yesterday. Jamaal Williams scored a touchdown on the ground while James Lark was 23- for-42 with 244 yards and two interceptions for the Cougars (8-5), who won four of their final five games and are winners in their past four bowl games.

College football’s bowl season continues Friday with the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl which features UCF against Ball State . The Cardinals enter the game riding a six-game win streak, while the Knights dropped two of their final three contests. Ball State has made five bowl appearances but has never managed to earn a victory. The Knights have garnered just a 1-3 record in their four previous bowl games, but they did win their most recent postseason appearance with a 10-6 victory over Georgia in the 2010 Liberty Bowl.

NFL
The Atlanta Falcons are set to play in a Saturday Night game this week. The 12-2 Falcons travel to Detroit to take on the 4-10 Lions. The Falcons can secure home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs with a win over the Lions or if both Green Bay and San Francisco lose on Sunday. Atlanta made a statement last week against the reigning Super Bowl champion New York Giants last Sunday with a shutout victory.
