Game 1 Final

Detroit 3

San Francisco << 8

Pablo Sandoval tied a World Series record by socking three home runs as the San Francisco Giants gained the upper hand in the 2012 Fall Classic with a convincing win over the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 from AT&T Park. Sandoval delivered a solo homer off Justin Verlander in the bottom of the first inning, a two-run blast against the Detroit ace in the third, and connected off reliever Al Alburquerque in the fifth to become only the third player in World Series history to go deep three times in a single game.

The 14th-ranked Clemson Tigers begin a two-game road trip through the ACC tonight as they take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Tigers are still in the hunt for the conference crown, as they have a 6-1 overall record and a 3-1 record in conference play. The team remained a half game behind the Florida State Seminoles, the same team that has given Clemson its only loss.

The improved Minnesota Vikings will kick off Week 8 of the NFL season on Thursday by trying to stay perfect at Mall of America Field. The Vikings, who have a 4-0 record in Minneapolis this season, will host a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team in the midst of a nine-game road losing streak.
