NBA All-Star Game

Chris Paul tallied 20 points and 15 assists, many of which went to Blake Griffin for a plethora of highlight-reel dunks. Griffin finished with 19 points on nine field goals — all dunks –, for the West, which won its third straight All-Star Game.

The Rabun County Lady Wildcats won their region tournament over the weekend with victories over Union County in the semi-final round and Greene County in the Region Championship game to become a #1 seed. The Girls’ move on to play Manchester in the first round of the State Tournament at 6pm Tuesday.

The Rabun County High School Boys’ lost their semi-final game against Jefferson, but won the consolation game against Washington-Wilkes, claiming the #3 seed. The play Spencer in the first round of the state tournament.

Danica Patrick has captured the pole position for next Sunday’s Daytona 500. Patrick, who had the top speed in practice on Saturday, turned in a lap of 196.434 miles per hour in qualifying on Sunday to become the first woman to earn the pole in the Great American Race. Jeff Gordon, a three-time Daytona 500 winner, will sit on the outside pole. Only the first two positions on the grid for next Sunday’s Sprint Cup season-opener were filled, with the remainder of the field to be determined after a pair of qualifying races later this week.
