SafeKids Launch Meeting Took Place on Tuesday

The launch meeting of SafeKids Rabun took place Tuesday morning.

Deputy Lisa Thompson with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office is the coalition coordinator for SafeKids Rabun, and she once again spoke about the goal of the SafeKids coalition.

“Our coalition will be a group of individuals, organizations, businesses, and churches all working on a common goal to prevent unintentional injuries.”

Thompson said the top three unintentional childhood injuries in Rabun County are motor vehicle crashes, poisonings, and falls.

Beverly Losman is with SafeKids Georgia, and she said that Rabun County has everything needed to have a successful SafeKids program.

“I applaud you, because it takes a leader, and a lead agency, and a great coordinator, and a great group of people to make SafeKids wonderful,” said Losman, “and I think you have that.”
