Salem– Robert Harold Hunter, 76, husband of Cora Sue Rogers Hunter, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Tiger, Georgia, Robert was the son of the late Robert Edgar Hunter and Bessie Cora Carnes Hunter. Robert retired from Duke Energy after 42 years of service, was a United States Army veteran, a devout Christian and member of Salem First Baptist Church. Robert was also a member of the Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge #92 and the Hejaz Shriners, Past President of Salem Lions Club, Past President of Tamassee Salem High School Booster Club, served on the board of DSS and the American Red Cross. In his leisure time, Robert loved reading, gardening and his chickens. Robert had a servant’s heart and was devoted to his Lord, his family and his community. Robert will be deeply missed.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife Cora Hunter of 56 years; son, Brian Robert Hunter of Salem; daughter, Tracy Denise Galloway of Salem; brother, Lloyd Hunter of Clayton, GA; sisters, Jerry Freeman of Gaston, SC, Helen Dickson of Vance, SC, and Betty Burton of Westminster, SC; grandchildren, Sarah Manley (Leon), Haley Hunter (Jonathan), Kaitlin Galloway, Hunter Galloway, Logan Hunter; and great-grandchildren, Cambrie Manley, Remington Manley, Quinn Rose Manley, Liam McKenzie, Kaden Galloway, and Ella Price.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his brother, Doyce Hunter; sisters, Vera Craig, Millie Rholetter and Patricia Fisher.
Per Robert’s wishes, a private memorial service will be held.
