Road department offers updates

With the continuing wet weather pattern Rabun County has been experiencing, the Road Department is still dealing with several slides around the county.

According to Road Department officials, a road striping package that included School Farm Road, a section of North Wolffork, John Beck Dockins, Boen Creek, Longview, Camp Creek, East and West Boggs Mountain has recently been completed.

The Road Department is almost finished the widening of two miles of Sandy Ford road in preparation of paving in the future. Additionally, the department has busy doing asphalt patching around the county, mowing , motorgrading and cleaning up trees from recent storms. With the New SPLOST the Road Department did a paving package that included 2.4 miles of Devils Branch Rd. and 1.2 miles of low Gap Rd.

As the season is starting to change the department is making preparations for the upcoming winter by ordering salt and making sure the bins are full of 89 stones for the roads when the snow and ice hit.
