Road Construction Projects approved for Northeast Georgia

Four projects were awarded to the Northeast Region in May totaling $4.7 million, announces the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).  The largest project awarded totaled $2.3 million and was awarded to Pittman Construction Company. The project will consist of resurfacing State Route 105 from north of State Route 385 to south of State Route 17. The project will extend for roughly nine miles and has an estimated completion date of April of 2020.  The second largest project totaled $1.1 million and was awarded to Peek Pavement Marking, LLC. The company will upgrade rumble strips across Barrow, Clarke, Dawson, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Hall, Jackson, and Walton counties. The project has an estimated completion date of June of 2020. The third largest project also totaled $1.1 million and was awarded to S&D Industrial Painting and Southern Concrete Construction Co., LLC. The project involves the rehabilitation of two bridges in Habersham County: the US 23/State Route 365 bridge over Wilbanks Road and the US 23/State Route 365 bridge over the Tallulah River. The project has an estimated completion date of February of 2020.  The final project totals $314,365.50 and was awarded to Southern States Pavement Markings, LLC. The company will upgrade pavement markings along I-85 from north of State Route 53 to the Banks County line. The project stretches approximately 19 miles and has an estimated completion date of April of 2020.
