Road Closures in Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests

The U.S. Forest Service – Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests reports that the U.S. Forest Service, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, has temporarily closed roads on WMAs in the Chattooga River Ranger District (Chattahoochee WMA, Lake Russell WMA, and Warwoman WMA) due to the predicted snow event this weekend. This closure is to ensure public safety and protect road conditions. Roads will remain closed until they are inspected and deemed safe after the weather event. Sarah’s Creek Campground on Warwoman WMA will also be closed during this time.

Affected Roads:

Chattahoochee WMA: Chattahoochee River Rd (FS# 44), White Oak Gap Rd (FS# 244)

Lake Russell WMA: Guard Camp Rd (FS# 87), Red Root Rd (FS# 92), GA Mountain Orchard Rd (FS# 191), Brown’s Bottom Rd (FS# 92B)

Warwoman WMA: Finney Creek Rd (FS# 152), Tuckaluge Creek Rd (FS# 153), Sarah’s Creek Rd (FS# 156), Sarah’s Creek Campground

District staff will assess road conditions next week.
