Road Closure for Bridge Replacement on Old Wildcat Bridge Road

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and construction partner E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. will close CR 399/Old Wildcat Bridge Road for a bridge replacement project.  CR 399/Old Wildcat Bridge Road will close May 26. The project has an estimated completion date of late September 2020.  The bridge replacement project is located approximately 5.5 miles northeast of Danielsville, Madison County, GA. While construction is in progress, motorists will be detoured to State Route 281 for 1 mile, to State Route 9 for 2.4 miles, to State Route 8/U.S. Route 29 for 2.3 miles.  The bridge on Old Wildcat Bridge Road over Bluestone Creek was built in 1966. The existing bridge is insufficient due to weight restrictions. An upgrade of the load-carrying capacity cannot be achieved through repair, therefore replacement of this bridge is required.  Exact dates may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are cautioned to reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers.
