‘Rhapsody in Rabun’ set to take place this weekend

Nearly a year of planning and it all amounts to one day as Rhapsody in Rabun is scheduled to occur this weekend.

The annual black-tie/cocktail Gala Fundraiser will include a night full of festivities with dinner being provided by local area restaurants, a silent and live auction and entertainment by “Back in Time”, all for a charitable cause.

It all began with a local resident Billy Johnson who had a dream to benefit Rabun County by partnering with local non-profits who were in need of financial help. With the collaboration of other like-minded citizens, Rhapsody in Rabun was born.

The Rhapsody in Rabun Board consists of officers, directors and an executive advisory council who work on organizing the fundraiser for roughly nine months. This dedicated group selects the recipient of the funds raised from Rhapsody in Rabun and then partners with the organization to plan the Gala event.

This year, the Rabun County Band Boosters have been selected to be the 2018 recipient of Rhapsody in Rabun. All of the proceeds raised from the event will benefit the “Superior” bands.  The Rabun County High School and Rabun County Middle School bands have received a combined total of 45 Superior ratings and 15 Excellent ratings in competitions since 1975, earning them some much-deserved instruments and uniforms.

Tickets for Rhapsody in Rabun are $50/per person and include admittance as well as dinner.
Tickets may be purchased from the following businesses;

Rabun County Bank, Oconee Federal Bank, United Community Bank, Holly’s Closet, Stekoa Creek Trading Company, Sky 96.3 WRBN-FM Radio Station,   Duvall Automotive Group, Rabun Co. Elementary or Rabun County Primary.

The event will be held on Saturday, August 11 from 5 – 11 p.m.
