Reward Offered for Missing Road Signs
The Marshal’s Office is trying to stop the theft of road signs in Rabun County.
The Rabun County Marshal’s Office has been authorized by the Rabun County Board of Commissioners to begin offering a reward for a conviction in the theft of road signs in Rabun County.
Roy Lovell with the Marshal’s office said it is a growing problem.
“Over the past several weeks we’ve had a rash of road name signs thefts in different areas of the county,” said Lovell. “Also, a couple have stop signs have had the top bolt taken out and been bent down, which we all know that in itself is very very dangerous.”
The reward for information that leads to a conviction in the theft of a sign is $1,000.
Lovell said that in addition to possibly hindering law enforcement or EMS, missing road signs directly hurt the taxpayers of Rabun County.
“It’s very expensive,” said Lovell. “We ask anybody that has any information, if they would, to call us.”
The number for the Rabun County Marshal’s Office is 706-782-2657.
