RCWSA General Manager gives Monthly Report for April 2022

At this week’s meeting of the Rabun County Water and Sewer Authority (RCWSA), General Manager Brendan Thompson gave his monthly report for April of 2022.  “The April 2022 ending balance on RCWSA’s Operating Bank Account is $70,754.39.  For the South Water System, the April 2022 Water Bill has been delivered to the City of Clayton. The unit Rate is $3.28/1,000 gallons beginning in July 2021. The Water Bill Amount is $117,844.48. The new unit rate of $3.37 is to be implemented on July 1, 2022.  The Lake Rabun Water Treatment Plant pumped to distribution system volume for March 2022 was 36,310,000 gallons. Pumped to distribution system volume for April 2022 was 36,455,000 gallons, which is an increase of 145,000 gallons or .4% from March 2022 to April 2022.  The pumped to distribution system volume for April 2021 was 32,160,000 gallons, which is an increase of 4,295,000 gallons or 13.4% from April 2021 to April 2022.  The City of Clayton’s April 2021 billing volume was 26,926,674.  The City of Clayton’s April 2022 billing volume was 35,928,195 gallons, which is an increase of 9,001,521 gallons or 33.4%.  Also, the April 2021 reading was affected by rocks accumulated in the meter.  Customers’ April 2022 meter readings were done on April 25, 2022. Bills were sent out on April 29, 2022.  There was one new tap for the month of April 2022, Carrie Beck on Golf Drive to be installed in May.  The unaccounted-for water volume for the month of April 2022 was 1.4%.  For the North Water System, the Little Tennessee Water Treatment Plant pumped to the distribution system for March 2022 was 10,394,000 gallons.  Pumped to distribution system volume for April 2022 was 14,430,000 gallons, which is an increase of 4,036,000 gallons or 38.8% from March 2022 to April 2022.  Meter Reading and Bills were sent at the same times as the South Water System.  There were no new taps for the month of April 2022.  The unaccounted-for water volume for the month of April 2022 was 2.2%.  The installation of the new Little Tennessee Water Treatment Plant raw water pump #3 is to commence in mid-June of 2022.  At the Rabun County Water Reclamation Facility and Collection System, regular preventive maintenance on motors and machinery continues and grass mowing and weed-eating are underway.”  In addition, fire hydrant maintenance and valve exercising are ongoing system-wide.
