RCSO arrests 2 on slew of drug charges

Deputies with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office have once again made our streets a safer place by putting two alleged drug distributors behind bars.

According to Rabun County Sheriff Chad Nichols, what was initially a traffic stop for defective tires, turned out to be the recovery and apprehension of illegal drugs thanks to K9 Doug and his deputy.

“On the afternoon of January 30, a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Webb Road and John English Road for tire requirements. Our deputy’s K9 partner was deployed and alerted on the vehicle. Upon further investigation, Tyler Bowcock of Lakemont, Ga. was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce, Possession/Use of Drug Related Objects, and Tire Requirements. Also arrested was Preston Alexander of Dillard, Ga. for Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of Marijuana Less Than One Ounce, Possession/Use of Drug Related Objects, and Crossing the Guardline with Contraband. Both subjects were transported to the Rabun County Detention Center,” said Nichols.

Nichols said if you are suspecting drug activity, he suggests to report any tips to the sheriff’s office or call Investigator Scott Cheek directly at (706) 960-9875.
