Rabun Gap hosts Charlotte Christian in 2nd Round of Football Playoffs

The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School Eagles varsity football team hosts the Charlotte Christian Knights in the second round of the NCISAA playoffs tonight, November 11, 2022.  The Eagles are 8-3 on the season and the Knights are 9-2.  The Eagles beat the Knights 24-10 in their first meeting on September 29.  Rabun Gap Director of Sports Information and Assistant to the Athletic Director, Coach Connor Cohea says this will be a tough rematch.  “Playoff time, win or go home.  Hosting Charlotte Christina here at Zavala Family Stadium.  We’re doing a blackout.  It’s going to be a great atmosphere.  We’re playing a very good football team who we played earlier this year here at home.  They’ve always been in the mix deep into the playoffs this time of the year.  When you play a team for the second time in the same year, it’s a lot tougher being the second time.  They’re a very good football team.  Well-coached.  They’ve done a little bit different things since the last time we saw them in terms of their offensive standpoint but that’s just normal.  When you get to this late in the year, you add some new wrinkles here and there.  They have a very good quarterback who can take off and run it at any point and they have a running back who is getting Division 1 offers.  They have big, physical, tall receivers and they have a good offensive line.  They do a bunch of different things.  They are going to screen, they are going to take shots deep, and they have a lot of creative run plays.  So, they’re a very talented team, well-organized, and well-coached.  Defensively, they are very big up front.  They have a very good defensive line and a very good secondary.  We saw that the first time we played them, so our offensive line has to do a great job.  Our defensive line, linebackers, and definitely our secondary have got to do a great job.  So, it’s not going to be easy but it is not meant to be easy when you’re in the playoffs.  But, we are very excited.  The weather could be a factor and we’ve been preparing for that.  So, we are looking forward to it.”  The Rabun Gap versus Charlotte Christian game kicks off tonight, November 11, 2022, at 7pm in Zavala Family Stadium.  If you can’t make it to the game, you can listen to it on Real Country 100.3.
