Rabun County under Increased Fire Danger

The National Weather Service reports an increased fire danger in effect from 1pm Monday, March 20, 2023, through this evening for Rabun, Habersham, Stephens, Franklin, Hart, and Elbert counties.  A very dry air mass is in place across Northeast Georgia today.  With warmer temperatures this afternoon, relative humidity values will drop below 25 percent. Northeast winds will diminish through the day ending up in the 5 to 10 mph range. The combination of low relative humidity values and drying fuel moisture values will lead to increased fire danger.  Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
