Rabun County Under Flash Flood Watch

Rabun County and surrounding areas are under a flash flood.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville/Spartanburg, Rabun County, as well as Habersham, Stephens, and Franklin Counties in Georgia, and Oconee County, South Carolina, and Macon County, North Carolina, are under a flash flood watch until midnight this evening.

From the NWS: NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA THROUGH THIS EVENING. THESE STORMS WILL DEVELOP IN A VERY MOIST AIRMASS AND WILL BE QUITE SLOW MOVING. THIS SETUP WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR MULTIPLE HEAVY RAIN PRODUCING THUNDERSTORMS TO AFFECT THE SAME LOCATIONS. AREAS IMPACTED BY THE THUNDERSTORMS COULD QUICKLY SEE 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN…WITH LOCAL 4 TO 6 INCH TOTALS POSSIBLE IN LOCATIONS AFFECTED BY MULTIPLE STORMS.
