Rabun County EMA on Winter Weather Preparedness, upcoming snow storm

Rabun County EMA is continuing to recognize Winter Weather Preparedness Week with focusing on today’s topic, Winter Weather Driving Tips/Safety, from the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency’s Ready Georgia campaign.

Michael Mazarky Rabun County Emergency Management Director said all though forecasts change on an hourly basis, according to the National Weather Station based in Greenville, Rabunites should start preparing now as some winter weather is expected this weekend.

Mazarky said if you have to get out and drive in the middle of a winter storm, it’s a good idea to prepare a vehicle emergency kit.

Mazarky said it’s also a good idea to prepare a ready kit for your home.

Mazarky offered some other tips to help keep you safe when experiencing winter weather.

“Winter Weather Preparedness Week is a great time for Rabun residents and businesses to prepare for all potential winter hazards,” said Mazarky. “Since winter weather can be unpredictable, we’re providing this information on winter weather preparation to help residents plan properly.”
