Rabun Co. Teacher on HOF Ballot

One of the players on the University of Georgia Football Team during the 1980 championship season who now resides and teaches in Rabun County is on the ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame.

Scott Woerner, who now teaches at the elementary school and coaches track at the high school in Rabun County, is one of seventy seven names to be voted on by the members of the National Football Foundation.

Woerner said that he is on the ballot with many other impressive names.

“It’s such an honor just being on the list,” said Woerner. “Being included in the 77 guys they have on the list, its one of those things, 33 years after the fact, its quite an honor.”

During Georgia’s championship season, Woerner was named first team All-American, All-Conference.

Woerner was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round in 1981.
