Rabun Co. hosts Bicentennial Party and Christmas Parade on Saturday

This Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, come celebrate as Rabun County hosts a bicentennial birthday party from 1-4pm and the annual Christmas Parade from 5-7pm in downtown Clayton.  Dr. Steven Arbitter gives details. “200-years-old on Dec. 21, which is going to be awesome. It’s been a full year of celebration and we are going to have a birthday party to wrap it up.  Dec. 21, is awfully close to Christmas, so we’ve partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to have the birthday party prior to the Christmas Parade. The celebration will be at the Rock House on Main Street in downtown Clayton.  We’ll have the doors open around 12:30pm and the party is from 1-4pm prior to the parade. There will be a student bicentennial artwork display and residents can view the contents of the time capsule that we are going to bury for folks in another 100 years to see what we did right and wrong, so they can judge us in another 100 years to see where we are at.”  The parade will wrap up the yearlong bicentennial celebration. This year the theme of the parade is “200 Christmases in Rabun County”.
