Rabun Co. Deputy arrests Atlanta Man for DUI and other Offenses

An Atlanta man faces five charges after being pulled over by a deputy of the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office for failing to maintain lane.  Around 11pm on Sept. 17, a deputy observed a Buick Lesabre on Georgia 15 just before Mountain City. After the vehicle changed lanes without signaling, the deputy had dispatch run the tag and it was listed for a Subaru.  Then the vehicle failed to maintain lane so the deputy initiated a traffic stop on Georgia 15 at Playhouse Drive. The man, 34-year-old Stephen Paul Droz, appeared to be confused when speaking to the deputy so field sobriety tests were initiated.  After falling those and a search of the vehicle revealed several open containers of alcohol, Droz was arrested for driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane, possession of an open container of alcohol, affixing license plate with intent to conceal, and no proof of insurance.  He was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center on the five charges. This was merely an arrest, all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
