Rabun Co. Board of Commissioners re-elects James as Chairman

At their monthly meeting Tuesday night, January 24, 2023, the Rabun County Board of Commissioners re-elected Greg James as chairman of the Board for another year.  Chairman James said he was honored to be selected again.  “First of all, it’s a great honor to serve on the Board of Commissioners and certainly to serve as chairman.  The chairmanship is chosen by the body of Commissioners and voted on in January of every year.  It is a great honor to have served for many years and certainly a great honor to be chosen again.  It is an important position.  Being a Commissioner is an important position but in chairmanship, my responsibility essentially is to run the meetings, sign a good bit of paperwork, and speak on behalf of the Board of Commissioners.  Again, it is a great honor to have been chosen again and the way it works is the chairman has the privilege of choosing a vice chairman.  There have been several over the years, currently, it is Scott Crane.  Scott is a great Commissioner, brings a great perspective to the position, and has served the County very well as have all the other Commissioners.  I have to say that about the current Board and I can say that about every other Commissioner that I have worked with over the years.  I’ve been very fortunate to have great skill sets of individuals with no agendas that have made great decisions in leading and making good choices for the constituency and the citizens of Rabun County.”  This will be Chairman James’ eleventh year serving as chairman of the Rabun County Board of Commissioners.
