Piedmont launches Digital Marketing Program

Adapting to an ever-changing economy and job outlook, Piedmont College announced today that in the fall it will begin offering a concentration in Digital Marketing as part of its bachelor’s degree program in Business Administration.  The program, offered through the college’s Harry W. Walker School of Business, will teach students how to leverage social media, email, search engine placement and other digital tools for success and outreach.  As online purchasing and consumer screen time grows, digital marketing has emerged as a fast-growing career track with many in the industry commanding a starting salary of $75,000 or more.  “While Piedmont remains grounded in liberal arts learning, we are committed to providing students with a real-world education that will help them thrive and grow in their career,” said Piedmont President James F. Mellichamp. “Our digital marketing program will equip students with the skills that many employers are demanding.”  Dr. Kerry Waller, dean of the school of business, said students will become grounded in core business fundamentals during their first two years before becoming immersed in the Digital Marketing courses, including several that are being offered through a partnership with a unique consortium of colleges and universities.  As part of the program, Piedmont will work with students to secure internships and develop contacts in professional organizations.  “The digital marketing program combines two elements of a Piedmont education that make our educational experience so unique: personal attention and positive outcomes,” said Waller. “Our students will receive unmatched mentoring while learning the skills they need to succeed in a high-demand career.”  For more information, see the Piedmont Digital Marketing Concentration webpage.  Photo showing Dr. Kerry Waller, Dean of Harry W.
