Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrests Mountain Rest Man on First Degree Burglary Charge
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reports a Mountain Rest was arrested on multiple property crime charges, including a charge of first-degree burglary. 34-year-old Garry Chase Coble, Jr., of Country Lane, was arrested during a Warrants Service at his home and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center. Coble, Jr. is also charged with one count each of entering a premises after a warning, malicious injury to personal property, malicious injury to real property, and petit larceny. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office investigation began after deputies responded to an address on Verner Mill Road in Mountain Rest early Saturday morning, August 3rd, for a possible burglary in progress. When Deputies arrived, they did not find anyone on the property as they began their investigation. Deputies made contact with the property owner and discovered two security cameras on the property that had been damaged. Deputies also discovered that the burglar had stolen a gas can and bug spray from the property. Deputies also observed no trespassing signs at the front gate at the entrance to the property. Based upon evidence that was obtained during the investigation, and after making positive identification of a suspect in the case, deputies obtained arrest warrants against Coble, Jr. According to the arrest warrants, Coble Jr. is also accused of entering a dwelling on the property at nighttime, without consent of the owner, and with the intent to commit a crime. Coble, Jr. also caused damage to a door frame of a shed at the incident location. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
