North Georgia Lakes drawdown schedule
This update from Georgia Power
North Georgia is now under an extreme drought designation. This status was updated last week to include the North Georgia Lakes.Currently our lakes are below normal levels due to the drought. Typically this time of year is drier than most months with the rainy season beginning in November through April .Forecast for the next several months indicate that precipitation will be below normal. For this reason , Georgia Power is canceling the scheduled 2016-2017 drawdowns for Lake’s Burton, Rabun and Seed.
Georgia Power realizes this may cause an inconvenience for your planned shoreline work, and for that we apologize. Canceling the scheduled drawdown will help us better manage water resources through this drought period. Georgia Power will continue to monitor conditions and as conditions improve , our plan is to re-schedule the drawdown for the fall of 2017.
